Middle School

Grade Level & Advanced Mathematics

Mathematics is a concrete science; its study is based in real phenomena from the physical and social sciences but increasingly areas like English and the Arts are informed by mathematics. Middle School students at all levels learn the everyday essentialism of math through an exact yet approachable curriculum starting with algebraic proportions and percents, through pre-algebra and finally, for those students who are ready: algebra.

Reading & Language Arts

Middle School Reading and Language Arts provides a bridge from the Primary School to High School. Students are expected to master the basics of reading fiction and non-fiction books, learn deeper writing and grammar skills, grow in their oral presentations, collaborations and deepen the complexity of their reading choices.

Religious education at the Academy is dedicated to fostering a dialogue between the Catholic intellectual tradition and all areas of contemporary culture through thoughtful reflection and academic research. Middle school students conclude their annual religion classes by journeying throughout the Hebrew Bible and concluding with the rich tradition of Catholic Social Justice.

All Academy students benefit from our science program LabLearner™, a 100% research-based, comprehensive, hands-on science education system aimed at illuminating and clarifying science in a way that is most understood and retained by students. Our Science curriculum combines scientific evidence with proven classroom best practices to create a science program that is easily absorbed and applied. The program aims to promote interaction and experimentation in a laboratory setting to encourage diverse learning and thinking strategies, and foster a community atmosphere of learning!

Social Studies

Beginning with Ancient Studies and working through U.S History while maintaining a strong background in geography and civics, students in the Middle School’s Social Studies program are given historical context while understanding and analyzing current events in interpersonal and interpersonal ways.
