The Academy of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is an educational community with roots in the Roman Catholic faith that teaches gospel values. Within our Carmelite tradition we are dedicated to helping students see God in themselves, in each other and in the world around them. The Academy of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is an over 140-year-old Catholic Primary school with a rigorous academic program. The students and faculty members work together to build a community whose members are responsible to one another for developing character and talent. With alumni attending the nation's finest high schools and universities, OLMC students are committed lifelong learners whose foundation begins at the youngest level, educating the mind, body and spirit.

The arts program at the Academy is broken into three distinct, trimester long, concentrations. Music takes place during the first trimester where singing, composing, playing the guitar, recorder, handbells, hand chimes and xylophones are just a part of the extensive interactive learning experience. The fine arts program at the Academy is taught in the second trimester of the academic year. Students have a transformative educational experience by learning about the process of creation and completing their own art projects in a variety of mediums and techniques. Finally in the third trimester students enter the theater arts program with an emphasis on drama with literary and social significance, learn text analysis and action-playing through a variety of methods, which culminates in all students participating in ensemble performance work.

OLMC's STEM program is interdisciplinary and is focused in our state-of-the-art MakerSpace classroom, providing every student with the ability to creatively solve problems as individuals and as a team.

All Academy students benefit from our science program LabLearner™, a 100% research-based, comprehensive, hands-on science education system aimed at illuminating and clarifying science in a way that is most understood and retained by students. Our Science curriculum combines scientific evidence with proven classroom best practices to create a science program that is easily absorbed and applied. The program aims to promote interaction and experimentation in a laboratory setting to encourage diverse learning and thinking strategies, and foster a community atmosphere of learning!

The Academy of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a deep tradition of athletic excellence. The three primary sports offered are fall volleyball, travel basketball and spring track. The OLMC Athletic Department and sports teams model the vision and expectations for the Archdiocese of Newark.

The Academy of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a very active parent community. The Parents' Guild is a group of volunteer parents dedicated to supporting our school for the benefit of all of our children. All parents and/or guardians are considered members of the Parents' Guild and are encouraged to attend monthly meetings and actively participate in school functions.The Parents' Guild mission is to provide an open line of communication between the school and its families, raise funds to support the school, encourage volunteerism, and instill a sense of pride in our unique, diverse, and faith-based community.
