Dear Families of OLMC,

“Love is the soul’s inclination, strength, and power in making its way to God.” -St. John of the Cross

Advent greetings to our OLMC family and friends!  We have been very busy during this wonderful time of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.  Advent has allowed us the opportunity to reflect and prepare…to relish the awe and wonder of the beginning of a new liturgical year…a chance to ready our minds, hearts and souls for the coming of the Christ Child.  Thank you for journeying with us throughout this preparatory and celebratory glorious season of Advent

A Delightful December

Many of our Advent Academics have been seasoned with enriching our learning experiences while reaching out to others.

We have:

  • Explored the Latin culture in our Spanish club through our Fiesta De Navidad
  • Enjoyed learning new and traditional seasonal music while preparing for our Christmas concert which we shared with family and friends
  • Enriched our Christian spirit through participation in our Student Council Ornament Sale which enabled us to prepare for our outreach to our neighbors in Peru; enrichment of our spiritual life continued through our prayer and liturgies especially the celebration of our special Carmel feast of St. John of the Cross, and our successful Giving Tree Project which provided more than 650 gifts for those in need, specifically, our beloved Sisters, children in the Bronx, pediatric and young adults with AIDS at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and homeless mothers and children at Siena House also in the Bronx.
  • Enhanced our Reading experience through participation in our book club selections and our regular reading classes
  • Embarked upon a new trimester anticipating great success in many new areas of learning

Christmas in the Air!

Kudos to all of our Warriors who worked so hard to provide us with our experience of the Season!  We offer congratulations to all who worked so hard to learn the songs and musical pieces to share with each of us at our annual Christmas concert.  It was a festive night enjoyed by many. Thank you!  Thank you to all who made these successful and enjoyable events possible!  We are blessed to have such talent!  A special thanks to Mr. A, from the Paul Effman Music Company, Dr. Sun Cho, Mr. Elliot Guerra, and Mrs. Jennifer Martinez for all that you do for the Academy and our children!

On and Off the Court

Even with all the enthusiasm and energy needed for our academic endeavors, our artistic pursuits, and our service to others, we still had plenty of energy and enthusiasm left for our participation in our athletic endeavors. Basketball and cheerleading are off to a great start!  Our OLMC Warriors are working hard each day at practice and in their scheduled games.  We are constantly proud of the determination all put forward to become well-rounded, successful young people who never shy away from a challenge.

Don’t Miss The Treasures of the Season

Enjoy every moment of this upcoming Christmas season, relish in the company of family and friends, be grateful for all of the many gifts and talents with which we have been blessed. Remember to pray for all of those who cannot be at home with family and friends, especially those serving our country and protecting our freedom, first responders, the sick, sad, lonely and those who are need of basic necessities.  Thank you to each of you for being such a special blessing to our OLMC family wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
