ACADEMY OF OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL

“this is for you and yours, a privilege…

November 18, 2020

Dear OLMC Families,

After careful consideration and discussion amongst the faculty, administration and the Archdiocese Schools Office, I have decided that due to the positive COVID-19 cases in our school community as well as the rising positive cases in our area, ALL OLMC students will be remote from Friday, November 20th through Friday, December 4th. In-person learners will return to school on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Teachers will be on live instruction as follows:

Middle School – Grade 6 – 8

Friday, 11/20 -Tuesday 11/24  8:15am to 1:50pm.

Wednesday, 11/25- 8:15 – 12 noon

Monday, 11/30 – Thursday 12/3 8:15 – 1:50pm

Friday, 12/4 is a half day and all assignments will be posted in Google Classroom for that day with NO live instruction.

Intermediate and Primary School – Grades 1 – 5

Friday, 11/20 -Tuesday 11/24  8:15am to 1:30pm.

Wednesday, 11/25 -8:15 – 12 noon

Monday, 11/30 – Thursday 12/3 8:15 – 1:30pm

Friday, 12/4- is a half day and all assignments will be posted in Google Classroom for that day with NO live instruction.

Early Childhood Grades Kdg – PK

Friday, 11/20 – Wednesday 11/25 Teachers will contact you directly with directives

Monday 11/30 – Friday 12/4   Teachers will contact you directly with directives

At this time, we are seeing a rise in positive cases in our area and have noticed parents asking for virtual learning. During the next few weeks I will be keeping a close watch on all communications from parents in regards to exposures and then proceed with decisions on virtual versus in-person learning. I need your help in continuing to keep us informed with exposures and your travel plans. Please remember, if you plan to travel outside of the state you must attend school virtually for 2 weeks once you return to NJ.

For precautionary measures, it is my intention to have  ALL students to be virtual the week after Christmas break (Jan 4 -8). We will keep you posted on this decision as soon as possible.

It is worth repeating….. I need your help in helping us keep our school community safe. Please make good choices during this holiday season. We are all in this together and together we need to make this work! I know it isn’t easy, but it is worth all the sacrifices. Life is so precious!

Thank you for all you do to help keep us safe!

Sincerely,

Ms Verdonck
