OUR SPIRITUAL SIDE

We have just completed our spiritual and educational adventures during the month of May.  This month included a very successful Carmel Cares 2018, serving the Homeless, Veteran card writing, and Medical supplies drive!  Celebrating the dedication of the month to our Blessed Mother, Mary, has afforded us many opportunities to spend time in prayer and celebration of this beautiful month and its special dedication to Mary.  May Crowning, First Eucharist, Mothers’ day, praying the rosary, etc. each a special tribute recognizing Mary as having a special place in our hearts and also in the spiritual expression of our Catholic faith.  We are blessed to be able to celebrate these notable events in a wholesome and peace-filled atmosphere.

“Bring flowers of the rarest, bring blossoms the fairest, from garden and woodland and hillside and dale;  “Oh, Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today! Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.”

OUR ACADEMIC SIDE

At OLMC we are very fortunate to learn in many and varied ways.  In addition to our daily classroom activities using text and tech, we are fortunate that our curriculum enables us to pay visits to many places that bring our learning to life.

Fourth graders visited Liberty Hall Museum and toured the home of New Jersey’s first elected governor, William Livingston as well as a virtual tour of the Underground Railroad which was accomplished through Scholastic’s Virtual tour; fourth graders also had a fantastic learning experience when they visited the RVCC Planetarium, discovering the secrets of the Sun, Moon, Planets, and Space travel.  These fourth grade warriors have been very busy this month!

Second graders designed and created their own Chinese dragons in honor of Asian Pacific Heritage Month; third graders shared their traditional Korean dress with their classmates; third graders listened to a Korean folktale, entitled, the Magic Fan, and then made their own Korean fans…we are grateful to each of the teachers and the parents who shared these adventures with our OLMC Warriors

Eighth graders were eligible to participate in the annual Dr. Chynn Essay Scholarship Contest in the hopes of winning a $500 scholarship. Visit our Website to read the winning essay!

OUR ARTISTIC SIDE

Our OLMC Arts program is one of the premier programs in all of Bergen County.  We are so fortunate to be able to foster creativity and awaken innate talent among our students.  Theater Arts as an integral part of our curriculum affords our students the opportunity to experience the performing Arts  Additionally, our artistic side is evidenced through the many students who come out to rehearsals for our annual Talent Show as well as through participation in Joey Travolta’s Film Camp, which takes place here each year, a partnership with OLMC supporting MarbleJam Kids – this exciting experience is offered to students third grade and up!

Our Arts program also includes an opportunity to try out for and join in the fun of producing several shows throughout the year; as always, each one has had full participation, creative expression, coupled with hours of preparation, and lots of fun for all!

OUR PHYSICAL SIDE

In addition to our regularly scheduled Physical Education classes, great performances at our OLMC Track and Field events along with our Warrior Field day activities showcase our attention to our physical needs.  We are grateful to all who help make these events possible and so successful! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are very proud to produce a well-rounded student who is more than able to meet the challenges of the future upon their graduation.
