Dear Academy Families,

The month of February flew by like the blink of an eye!  It’s a short month, and incorporates our winter break, so it’s even shorter, however, much was accomplished throughout the busy halls of OLMC.  Our Warriors took on many challenges and continued to advance academically as well as spiritually, physically, and socially.

A Safe and Secure OLMC

Working closely with our Tenafly partners law enforcement, Office of Emergency Management as well as the local school district, we are confident that we are doing all that is needed to provide a safe, secure environment for our students.  The regularly scheduled meetings and walk through with the Tenafly police department enables us to keep abreast of the latest protocols and procedures and to ensure that we are implementing them efficiently and securely. The regularly scheduled drills ensure that each member of the staff as well as even our youngest students are well equipped to handle the necessary procedures whether for evacuation, lockdown or shelter in place.   We continue to hold the safety and security of your children as our highest priority and pledge to continue to stay abreast of the latest updates as they become available. Thank you for your trust and for choosing our OLMC environment as “the best place” for your children’s elementary school experience.

The Arts in Action!

“Our American Cousin” took the Odyssey Theater by storm when the curtain went up on the hilarious and wild comedy on Friday, March 2nd.  Newly imagined and updated by Elliot Guerra, the play was fun for the whole family, teaching us that in spite of the quirks that come along with being a member of a family, life is definitely about faith and family.  We are very fortunate to have the talented Mr. Guerra to work with our students bringing out the best of each one’s special talents. Thank you to the cast and crew and all who worked so hard to bring this entertaining comedy to fruition at OLMC!

A Season of Success

As our Warrior Basketball season draws to a close, we congratulate all players, coaches, and spectators for a lively and successful season!  Each team played with heart, diligence and great sportsmanship…exhibiting all the qualities expected of our Warrior teams. Special congratulations to our Boys Varsity who won a spectacular feat in an overtime push to the finish. Our JV team also pulled out another championship. Congrats!  All teams deserve special recognition for their successful season. We are very proud of each of you! Mr. and Mrs. Celli and all of the coaches deserve a great round of applause for all of their hard work and dedication to our program and our players/ cheerleaders! May God Bless you!

Celebrating Black History

Celebrating Black History Month at OLMC was chock full of activities that enabled each of our students to recognize the contributions of Black heritage to our country’s vibrant history.  Each activity highlighted a different aspect of Black History and allowed for much exploration and celebration. THANK YOU TO Mr. and Mrs. Ross and Ms. Brandi Simpkins for organizing a month of activities for our Students!

IOWA Standardized Testing

Our new standardized testing program will continue this week. The Archdiocese has switched from Terra Nova to Iowa and therefore, we start fresh with new test scores this year.  We will not be offering a comparison to previous year’s scores as they are not to be compared. We start fresh with IOWA and the first comparison will be at the conclusion of 2018-2019 academic year. A huge thanks to Mrs. Falcicchio and Ms. Verdonck, our testing coordinators, for all of their efforts!
