Art
The fine arts program at the Academy is taught at every grade level. Students in grades PK3 to Grade 8 will learn about a variety of different art mediums and experiment with different art processes. Students will also learn about famous artists and art history.
Music
Music at the Academy of Our Lady of Mount Carmel teaches students in grades PreK 3- 5 about many musical concepts. Children are taught about rhythm, melody, timbre, expression (dynamics / tempo / articulation,) form, texture and harmony. Our primary curriculum also includes a performance aspect as children learn songs to be performed at a concert. All students are exposed to many pitched and unpitched instruments throughout the school year. Grades 3 and 4 also learn to play the recorder.
The Academy Middle School music history program lasts for one trimester. During this time, the middle school focuses on specific music genres including classical, jazz and rock music. They learn the history of the genre, listen to and react to music, and learn about the important historical figures instrumental in the creation of the genre.
Physical Education/Health
The Academy’s physical education program is designed to achieve every individual student’s health and fitness goals, whether for fun or fitness, a beginner or enthusiast, our premier facility is an excellent academic environment that encourages bodily and kinesthetic learning for the overall success, self-confidence and safety of all our students. Our Health program discusses the importance of health and wellness from a nutrition and behavioral point of view. Fueling students’ physical goals, students have the opportunity to begin a lifelong journey of healthy choices with nutrition.Spanish

From early education to middle school, the method for Spanish second-language acquisition will be Eclectic as we will be using the best practices of all methods available.
Technology
In the MakerSpace, students engage in STEM-themed lessons. This course offered to all OLMC grades is an innovative approach to learning in which students use problem-solving skills to tackle hands-on learning activities. The students work on a wide area of technology skills including digital literacy & citizenship, keyboarding, 3D printing, internet research, document formatting, presentation skills, and spreadsheet applications.
Science/LabLearner
In the LabLearner program, students learn science through a series of inquiry-based, hands-on activities that identify and incorporate national science, math, and ELA standards. An integral part of the LabLearner program is the conversion of a school classroom into a fully functional, in-school teaching laboratory appropriate for physical, earth, and life science activities. Additionally, Core Experience Learning Labs (CELLs), written by teams of scientists and classroom teachers, are provided for use by the student and teacher both in the classroom and in the laboratory.
