The students in the Academy have been celebrating St. Nicholas’ feast day on December 6th. In Pre Kindergarten 3 the ancient tradition of leaving shoes outside of the house (or classroom) continues as the young students find treats inside them. Tradition holds that St. Nicholas, a bishop in Asia Minor would leave tangerines and other treats in the shoes of peasant children. Interestingly enough, tangerines were being mysteriously found on backpacks and the pockets of jackets all throughout the building. Perhaps the spirit o giving that f St. Nicholas embodied is still with us!
