After reading Lois Lowry’s The Giver, the award-winning novel about a seemingly perfect society, and learning about speculative science fiction, dystopian and utopian literature, the students in Grade 7 reading class got to work on a group project where they had to come up with their own “perfect” utopian society. Teams of students created their own worlds and determined all manner of life in those societies. The groups built governments, designed cities and currency and imagined what food distribution would be like and how schools would be constructed. Check out the photos below!
