From April 1st on throughout the month and ongoing we are celebrating the joyful Easter season.  It is a season filled with new life in nature and in the celebrations of our Faith. As we prepare for the burst of spring in nature and cherish the renewal of our faith, we also continue to celebrate our academic and character building achievements.  We are very blessed and as such, we are very grateful for all of our blessings! May you enjoy the fullness of this season of new life! Wishing God’s blessings on all!

ALWAYS ACADEMICS!

As we enter the last semester of this 2017-2018 academic year at OLMC, we continue to offer challenges and opportunities for expanding the educational experiences available to our OLMC student Warriors.  They enthusiastically accept the challenges and opportunities presented and enter fully into each experience. We are very proud of their willingness to embrace each educational opportunity and enjoy sharing gifts and talents with one another! Once again we count our blessings and remember a few special educational opportunities from the month of April:

  • The primary grades enhanced their knowledge of Science through their visit to Liberty Science Center where a wide variety of hands-on opportunities were presented
  • Grades seven and eight attended a Broadway play entitled “The Play that Goes Wrong” which was part of their Theatre Arts Curriculum
  • OLMC helped their sisters and brothers in Burkina Faso gain access to clean water by working with the Georgie Baddiel Foundation – Kathy, from the foundation let us know that our school-wide contribution would be put toward obtaining a well for their village.  The primary students attended the SKYPE session and celebrated our involvement
  • Fifth graders visited the Yogi Berra Museum to learn about character building and the math behind baseball.  It was a very positive experience for all involved and we thank all of those who planned and executed this event.

ARTS IN ACTION

The Odyssey Theatre at OLMC was packed with an audience excited to be a part of Kathy Stout’s “We the People” …based on a play by Pat Cook.  The entire production was student-led on stage and off with the OLMC Band rocking the house with some great songs at the outset! Thanks to all who made this spectacular patriotic event such a success.

A celebration of Shakespeare’s Birthday was also another great artistic event during the month of April…the Theatre Arts students celebrated the Bard with games, readings performances, birthday treats and their rendition of “happy birthday, Bill”!

SAFETY FIRST!

April also included an opportunity for our students to enhance their skills surrounding bicycle safety, pedestrian safety and playground safety courtesy of Dr. Meliam Gonzales, Trauma Prevention Coordinator and Clinical Educator from Hackensack University Medical Center. The students were very attentive and asked pertinent questions and shared experiences. Our OLMC students are ready for an active Spring spent safely enjoying outdoor fun!  Now onto Spring Cooking Enrichment classes – Carmel Chefs are ready to go!

Celebrations of Earth Day included a Casual Carmel Day with the student council collecting $2.00 from each participate going to support Greenpeace and suggesting that students come dressed in a shirt that represents Earth Day.  Additionally, our first graders took on the challenge of cleaning up our campus and setting an example of how we should cultivate respect for nature and shared property.

SPRING INTO ACTION @ OLMC!

Community Day, at California Pizza Kitchen in support of our OLMC Athletic program, was a very enjoyable event.  Tasty pizza was enjoyed by all participants and Coach (Chef) T prepared a special pizza in support of the OLMC Warriors.  Thanks to everyone for this huge successful endeavor! Track is the team event of this season and we look forward to successful track and field events  Come out and support our Warrior teams!
