OLMC CELEBRATES NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Month long activities:

Grades 5-6-7-8th will give presentations in class on Cultural projects.

Parents/ Guest Speaker will speak to each class during Spanish Class and give highlights on first person life experiences, incorporating their history in the Latino/Hispanic culture. The goal is to provide the students with a learning experience on the arts and culture in this beautiful heritage.

All grades Art & Culture masterpieces will be display throughout the school to embrace the heritage.

Week of October 9th

Puerto Rico Disaster Relief Drive – Spanish Club will collect items for the hurricane and earthquake victims who are struggling without the basic necessities.

Week of October 16th

Monday, October 16th – “ Storytime in Spanish” 4th Grade has recreated in Spanish the books “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “Rainbow Fish” (4th Grade will perform a puppet show for the Early Childhood students in the classroom)

Wednesday, October 18th- “The Latin Culture Show” performed by 5th- 6th- 7th- 8th Grade /presented in the Odyssey Theatre at 10:45am (1 hour)
(This show is for grades 1st through 4th)

Week of October 23rd
October 26th – The students will have a “Latin Fiesta” during lunch with fun decorations and latin music.

Spanish Club – Bake Sale during lunch periods / all proceeds will be donated to “Los heroes del terremoto” in Mexico and to “Unidos Por Puerto Rico”
