To the Academy of Our Lady of Mount Carmel community,

As we near the end of another successful academic year, it is with mixed emotions that I write this letter to you. This past week I was offered the job of Principal at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale. After a lot of thought and prayer, I have decided that it is a professional opportunity that I need to pursue. As a result, I will not be returning to the Academy of Our Lady of Mount Carmel after this school year.

In recent years, our Academy has experienced tremendous growth, and it is thriving. This is a testament to the strength of the OLMC community. I am extremely confident that the Academy will continue to experience incredible success moving forward. Please know that I will make sure the transition to a new principal is as smooth as possible.

As a life-long parishioner and OLMC alumnus, I want to stress that my relationship with this remarkable community has simply changed, not ended. While I look forward to this new chapter of my career and life, I will also continue to be an active member of this proud parish. For those of you who might not know, I am also an alumnus of St. Joseph Regional High School. It is an understatement to say that I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work at the two institutions that have so profoundly affected my life.

I will be forever indebted to the generosity and kindness of so many.

To my colleagues on the faculty and staff, it has been a pleasure to work with you. You have made it easy to come to work each day. I know that the mission of our school is in good hands.

To the Academy parents, your unwavering support has been invaluable. I feel privileged to have been given the chance to work with the 270 students that you have entrusted to us at OLMC. In the face of many changes, your openness to new paths has been a gift.

To the late Fr. Leonard, who showed such trust in a young principal because he had faith in his vision for this Academy.

To Fr. Dan, in a very short time you have taught me what incredible Catholic leadership with grace and humility looks like. I look forward to continuing our friendship and asking for your guidance.

Finally to the students of OLMC, over these past few years you have taught me far more than I ever could have hoped to teach you. I will truly miss each and every one of you and I hold a special place for you in my heart.

Fr. Dan, our pastor, will now head a search committee for a new principal. The committee will be made up of people from various groups within the Academy – school board members, faculty, parents, and representatives from the Archdiocese. The plan is to have a new principal in place as soon as possible. I will also be assisting in the transition to a new principal in any way that I can.

With gratitude,
