Academics

Middle School

Grade Level & Accelerated Mathematics

Mathematics is a concrete science; its study is based in real phenomena from the physical and social sciences but increasingly areas like English and the Arts are informed by mathematics. Middle School students at all levels learn the everyday essentialism of math through an exact yet approachable curriculum starting with algebraic proportions and percents, through pre-algebra and finally, for those students who are ready: algebra.

Grade Level & Accelerated Reading

Middle School Reading provides a bridge from the Primary School to High School. Students are expected to master the basics of reading fiction and non-fiction books, learn deeper skills, grow in their oral presentations, collaborations and deepen the complexity of their reading choices.

Language Arts

Middle school language arts focuses on phonics, fluency, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, writing processes and more. The goal for the program is to help students develop strategies for active reading and clear writing.

Religion

Religious education at the Academy is dedicated to fostering a dialogue between the Catholic intellectual tradition and all areas of contemporary culture through thoughtful reflection and academic research. Middle school students conclude their annual religion classes by journeying throughout the Hebrew Bible and concluding with the rich tradition of Catholic Social Justice.
